COMMUNIQUE FROM PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF BENGUELA ON THE PROPOSED MARCH ORGANISED BY OMUNGA

24 March 2010
Faced with the repeated intentions of the OMUNGA group to hold tomorrow, 25 March 2010, a public demonstration in protest against what they term Demolitions and Forced Evictions, in contradiction to the Provincial Government of Benguela’s Non-Authorization [of this event], issued in accordance with the Law and communicated to the [OMUNGA] organization on the 17 March 2010.

Considering the dangerous insistence of those promoting the march in question, expressed through calls for peaceful citizens to mobilize, inviting them to join the action in question, disobeying and disrespecting the legally constituted authorities; the Provincial Government of Benguela warns the leaders of the OMUNGA group of the consequences of such actions, calling on the population not to support such calls to mobilize.

The Provincial Government of Benguela, within the framework of its duty to defend social order, tranquillity and peace, will use the legally constituted means in order to stop such an action and declares that it will not be responsible for any physical or material damage that may arise from the exercise of its authority, in defence of the established order.

The Provincial Government
